FAQ'S Answers
"You provide the FAQ'S, we provide the facts"
I have many appliances with three prong plugs and my outlets are made to accept two prong plugs. What is required to have the plug changed?

The ungrounded and non-polarized electrical receptacle is an old type that is not in use in modern construction. This receptacle has the familiar two-prong slots to receive the plug, but both slots are the same size. This means that a modern appliance such as a lamp cord with prongs of two different sizes (polarized) will not fit in this receptacle.
Old-fashioned two-prong receptacles connected to two-wire cables don't have the ground wires that protect people and electrical devices in case of a fault. Yet it is possible to retrofit a new three-prong or GFCI receptacle into the same outlet box without any rewiring, as long as the box itself is grounded.
