Wind Energy
"We provide the turbine, the wind provides the energy, you provide the savings"
What is a wind turbine?
A wind turbine harnesses kinetic energy from wind and converts it to electricity through the rotation of blades connected to a generator. Wind turbines come in a number of sizes and configurations depending on their use. They range in size from small units producing 400 watts to large industrial turbines 117 metres tall, weighing 63 tonnes, and supplying enough electricity for 3000 homes.
Also, please do remember that in order to make the wind turbine fully functional, you will need to live in an area with wind that averages 10 miles per hour or more (the wind map of your area, will help you out with this bit of information).

Is a wind turbine appropriate for residential purposes?
When it comes to wind energy, most people think of collections of huge wind turbines that pump large amounts of electricity into the grid. However, with people more and more interested saving a buck - as well as the planet - there has been a growing interest in backyard-scale wind turbines. These smaller machines can allow a small house or cottage to go off the grid, or allow a farm to create some of its own power.
So how do you know if a home wind turbine is for you? Small scale wind turbines are for you if:
- You have at least 1/2 acre of property with good wind
- Your local zoning allows a wind turbine installation on your property
- Your neighbors are okay with you installing one
- You want clean renewable energy or some independence from the grid.

Are wind turbines expensive to install?
A homeowner spending $60-100 per month for electricity could knock 30-60 percent off their bill, depending on the wind speed, tower height, and price of electricity. You see a return on your wimdmill installation in approximately 10-15 years.
